I'm working on a screenplay currently about a group of students who are trying to cope after each lost a significant other (whether a friend, lover, or sibling) in a shooting. The story relys heavily on the small details that each noticed about the others. The script is set at a grief conciling session for the survivors. We never see the events of the shooting but through the flashbacks of the survivors, we find out the events in the days leading up to the shooting. Through these flashbacks we get to know who the survivors were before and after the events. Each survivor has their own story and while some end well and some end without really ending and some end not so positive, it trully is a story of human strength and hope when faced with tragedy.
While I write, I cast my story in my mind so as I write, as it plays out, I can picture scene happening. I used to cast people from my own life but I found that to be problematic when trying to keep the character seperated from the real person. So I began to cast actors as if I were filming the script. So now, I share my cast with you.
